Fun to watch, the fights are spectacular as well as the techniques used in the fighting. Each person has his or her own style and abilities that are different from everyone else in the show.
The story is somewhat lengthy, with lots of side stories to give insight in to all of the characters friend or foe. Each story gives each character a human side even if they are considered a villain, making each one of them likable even if they seem like they are bad. This truly gives new meaning to viewing conflict with a different set of eyes. The series shows that all sides have a story for the reason they believe and why they choose to fight.
At times the voices are over the top. There is a lot of use of side emotions and thoughts, which can sometimes be distracting. Some of the characters are annoying in their own ways but that's what gives this show its charm and a human perspective as we all tend to think differently.
A wonderful show for teens and tweens yet still holds some interest for adults as well. This is a show that can be watched between kids and parents to find hidden lessons for kids to learn from. Themes such as not giving up, standing up for yourself, handling conflict and dealing with childhood rivals, are all things that everyone has had to deal with growing up. Being able to see both sides of the story is a wonderful point to this show letting people know that even enemies have a heart even if it doesn't seem like they do.

The character designs in the show are very detailed, and when the characters move they do it perfectly. There are no flaws when they are fighting or walking around; it is very crisp. Also every once in a while they switch their animation techniques to add more depth or detail to something. When they do this you will be amazed by how good it looks. The only problem I have with it is that if you watch all the episodes every once in a while the animation changes for the worst. There are some episodes where the characters look a little deformed; like their face or body changes a little. All in all though the animation style is well done.
Once the story starts, you find out what the main plot line is. about Naruto; the main character who wants to become the greatest ninja in the village. While the plot may be over done in anime, "the main character trying to be the best or come out on top" the series still captivates you. The story always changes its mood to keep it interesting. Some episodes are funny, serious, sad, and at times a combination of them. This is good because it doesn't get old.
This anime is good for when you just need a relaxing break from the too gory, too silly, or too serious animes because it has a mixture of both. It is fun to watch and you'll find yourself liking the characters more and more as time goes by. I would recommend this anime to anyone who likes ninjas, Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball Z.

Ninjas! That's all I need to say. No, I'll say more. Naruto, what a show. Few years standing now and it's still coming out hot from Japan. Very popular with all ages. The animation is nothing new. Same type of animation I have seen many times before. I'm not saying it looks bad, it just seems to be like all the other shows I've seen before. I love the story. Young boy wants to become the greatest and prove he is alive. The show doesn't just focus on Naruto to become the greatest. It focuses on all his friends and their struggles through training on how to become a great ninja. Hinata has to be the best character ever. She has the cutest story. She wants to be with Naruto so badly, but she is too shy to ask him out. Naruto being a blockhead and too dense to notice anything doesn't realize Hinata is interested in him. I've seen a lot of "maybes" of the two together, but etil the fillers stop playing and they get back to the main story line we won't see them getting any closer together. A lot of famous people in this show, and the cast fits pretty well with their characters, except Shino. I don't think Derek Prince fits Shino very well. This show is very long and has no signs of quitting. Toonami will have a fun time with this one.

I have to say, the animation in this show must have been very similar
to flipping a notepad. At any time, anything could happen. The same
pertains to the life of a ninja. With cut-throat speeds and flashy
chakra attacks, it must have been a blast animating.
The story, I'd have to say, is great in Naruto. An innocent child,
ignored and hated because of a demon fox sealed within his body which
once destroyed the entire city. Through his adventures as a ninja,
desperate for attention, he starts to gain the trust and respect from
the others in the village. Most important, people begin to believe that he
has what it takes to become the next hokage.
Being that I've seen both the English and Japanese version, I
can notice a definite difference. Bear with me here... Naruto's
English voice? Sorry, but I just can't live with all of the screaming.
But besides that, the English casting is great.
Now don't get me wrong, I like this show as much as the next ninja
wannabe... It's just that there never seems to be a moment when Naruto
is just speaking calmly. He is always doing some sort of scream or yell.
However, I must say that the musical score in Naruto is wonderful. The
traditional instruments make for a great sound.

Naruto is a series with several ups and downs. At times, it has some of the best animation ever seen. At other times, it has some of the worst. The action is superb, and some fights are even some of the most memorable. The character design is also fantastic, as each character is unique in their design, which is followed by a unique personality. In fact, the only real time any characters look similar is if it is purposefully done that way.
The one thing that drives Naruto on is its story, which is constantly driven by its characters. Although we find cliches here, with morality tales akin to after-school specials, it is still easy to get attached to the characters. One of the best things about the series is its mature tone. It could have been easy to simply create some stories with happy endings and cut out all of the tragedy, but Naruto keeps its sense of danger and mortality. But, Naruto isn't all tragedy, and another great thing about the anime is its mixture of fun and seriousness. There's great drama, action, and comedy all mixed into one nice little package. The arcs of the series should keep any anime fan entertained and the characters become exceptionally familiar, a primary reason the series has lasted so long.
Possibly one of the worst things of the English Naruto dub, are the voices. While not all that bad, they certainly aren't as up to par as they could be. It's only slightly more than tolerable. However, with that said, there have certainly been far worse, and to say the least, the characters do sound natural.
Take away the original themes and endings, and you've taken out half the soundtrack. The openings and endings for the English dub are nowhere near as good as the originals, which have a lack of emotion that fits the series well. Otherwise, the music is suitable and unique, creating a sound that represents Naruto.

It's very Dragon Ball-esque if that's even a word. Naruto clearly has Toryama influence in the art and animation, but it does have its subtle differences that do set it apart. However, if it ain't broke don't fix it, so I don't find anything wrong with the style of art they chose to pursue here, in fact that's what drew me to it. I grew up watchin' the Dragon Ball stuff, so it adds a bit of nostalgia. Some of the action sequences that happen later in the story (not in the fillers) are really awesome.
It has some originality, but it gets pretty bland at points. I am sad to say I still watch it even though it's getting close to 100 episodes of fillers....The people watching the dubs have no idea what they are in store for...I mean when you talk about mind numbing, you think of Naruto fillers. It also feels like it's trying to be the next DBZ as far as episode numbers go.
Nothing special, the Japanese voices are all fine, however from what I hear about the dub, it's HORRIFIC! I don't want to sit through a single episode of the dubs after hearing how much they ruined the Naruto experience, and that's a lot coming from a guy who watches Naruto fillers. Music was great though, I have 3 of the soundtracks.

The animation on Naurto is top notch and state of the art.
The story is totally original and creative. It brings back the whole ninja feeling. When you watch the first episode of Naurto you just can't get enough of its creativity and humor.
Gah! Whoever did the voice casting should have considered who they selected to do voices of teenage character's I AM NOT GOING TO SAY ANY names but several of the voices just don't match up with their characters'.
Overall this is an awesome series. When I first saw it I couldn't get enough of it. The adventure, comedy, ninjitsu battles are just phenomenal.

Each character has their own unique style, that's completely different that one another. The animation is well rounded, keeping with tradition but adding that flare every series needs.
Easy to follow, but filled with 'High School' drama and over extended moments. Fans of 'Dragon Ball Z' may be satisfied, but all others may find it hard to keep interest.
It seems the entire cast is decent, except for the main characters. Naruto's voice will have you grinding your teeth in no time, while the others are completely annoying or increasingly uninteresting.
The rock and cute melodic music isn't new, but nowhere close to being repetitive.

Like many famous Shounen Jump series, Naruto is animated by the famed Studio Pierrot. Pierrot certainly has a reputation for bright, clean, animation, and Naruto is no exception. The character designs are pretty much spot on with the manga, and the style remains consistent throughout all of the episodes.
Before Naruto exploded onto the anime scene, most ninja shows were either violent and dark, or serious, and none of them gained much popularity. However, Naruto introduced a new kind of ninja series: fun, action packed, and filled with a huge cast of characters that everyone could relate to. There are many action packed arcs, some quite serious and violent, although they only add to the depth of the series. The characters all have wonderful depth and development, and it is always a treat to see them change and grow as they interact with each other. With a good blend of humor and serious action, Naruto showed the world a completely new type of ninja series.
Obviously, a topnotch cast was hired for the voice production of Naruto, and the quality can be clearly heard. Naruto's voice really fits him well, newcomer Maile Flanagan really nails all of Naruto's emotions, and there's really no instances of overacting. Yuri Lowenthal makes a really great Sasuke; smug, fierce, and cold, all rolled into one polished package. It's nice to see that certain ninja terminology has remained in Japanese, and the cast generally does a satisfactory job of pronouncing the Japanese words.
While it's true that not all Naruto episodes are deeply engaging, such as multiple-episode-long fights, much of the series is funny, action-based, with lots of deep and thoughtful moments mixed in. Certain moments will make you sigh and contemplate life, such as when the Third Hokage and Orochimaru face each other about their paths and beliefs. With a ninja twist on the classic shounen formula, there is a reason why Naruto is currently one of the most beloved series ever created.

For some reason during the first story arc I was a big fan of the overlays. For example, they would show a wide shot of Naruto and another character, then the screen would turn black or white as if there was some sort of filter on it. All of a sudden we see another image of Naruto in the same shot, but close up. As the series progressed, it got more popular, which equals CHA CHING a bigger budget for better animation. I think the best animation sequences would have to be the openings and endings of the show.
Ah Naruto, the story of a young loud mouth, orange wearin', "ninja" who wants to be Hokage. The only thing ninja-esque about this show is some of the terms they use. The story is alright. It kept me interested enough to watch more after the first two episodes.
I should point out that I've seen most of this series in Japanese and saw some in English. I wasn't too sure about the English dub. Not because I thought the Japanese version is the best or that dubs suck. I love dubs! I'm an animator and would I love to watch shows where I'm not reading then watching because I like to concentrate on the animation. But if there's a voice that I can't stand, then it's hard for me to enjoy it. I get the same way in the Japanese version too. At first some of the voices didn't seem like they matched the characters' personalities. Then as I watched the series the voices started getting better. I thought Maile Flanagan was a good choice for Naruto. Kyle Hebert (Kiba), Liam O'Brien (Gaara), and Stephanie Sheh (Hinata) also portrayed their characters very well.
Overall I enjoy this series very much. Come on, its ninjas! How can you go wrong with ninjas, no matter what way you portray them. True it can be very DBZ-ish at times, but it's a fun show with characters of different types and sizes.
